Director Valek chaired the autumn session of the Committee of Legal Advisers on Public International Law of the Council of Europe

 

Director of the International Law Department Petr Valek opened as a Chair of the Committee of Legal Advisers on Public International Law of the Council of Europe (CAHDI) its 58th session. The committee deals with current questions of international law, for instance with reservation to treaties, the immunities of States and international organizations and international humanitarian law.
 

At the CAHDI meeting, which was held in Strasbourg from 26 to 27 September 2019,  prof. Pavel Sturma, the Chair of the International Law Commission of the United Nations (ILC), further informed about the work of the commission. Sir Michael Wood and Andrew Sanger were another guests of this meeting who presented a CAHDI publication on the topic “Immunities of special missions”. At the end of the session of CAHDI, Director Válek was re-elected the Chair of this Committee for 2020.
