Deputy Minister Chmelař held consultations with Armenian MFA Deputy Minister Adonts

 

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aleš Chmelař held a meeting with Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Avet Adonts on 21 October 2019. Bilateral relations, the EU – Armenia relations, regional and security topics were discussed during the consultations.
 

Deputy Minister Chmelař and Deputy Minister Adonts expressed their satisfaction with the level of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and confirmed that the Czech-Armenian relations are developing well without any crucial problems. The meeting between two Prime-Ministers on the margin of UN General Assembly in New York and other planned high-level visits were mentioned. Both parties agreed there is still a space for deepening our economic cooperation and exchange the information regarding internal development in Armenia and the Czech Republic, as well as the Czech Presidency in V4 and Armenian Presidency in Eurasian Economic Union.

The second part of the consultation was concentrated on issues related the cooperation between the EU and Armenia, including Eastern Partnership initiative and preparation of the Czech Presidency in 2022. The exchange of views on current foreign policy and security topics such as the Turkey-Syria conflict, Iran, Russia and China was an important part of the consultation. In the context of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Deputy Minister Chmelař repeated that a peaceful solution through negotiations is the one and only way to reach the settlement of this conflict.

The Protocol between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Republic of Armenia on the Implementation of the Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Armenia on the Readmission of Persons Residing Without Authorization was signed during the consultation.
