Deputy Minister Chmelař held consultations in Estonia

 

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Aleš Chmelař conducted consultations in Estonia on 22 January 2020. He met Deputy Minister of Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs for the EU Märt Volmer and political director Lembit Uibo. In the consultations also participated Kaja Tael the new ambassador with a special mission for climate and energy policy. Mr. Chmelař also visited the think tank Estonian Foreign Policy Institute and Estonian Parliament of Riigikogu, where he met Riina Sikkut, Vice-Chair of the EU Affairs Committee, and Aivar Söerd, Chairman of the Estonian-Czech Parliamentary Group.

The negotiations confirmed mutual interest in further deepening Czech-Estonian bilateral relations in all areas of cooperation. The partners discussed future of the European Union, the possibilities of strengthening coordination between comparable and like-minded EU Member States in areas of common interest, and last but not least, the growing potential for regional cooperation between Central European, Baltic and Nordic countries. Other subjects of the meeting were issues of the security policy with emphasis on regional cooperation, development in Ukraine and relations of the European Union with Russia, situation in the Middle East.
