Deputy Minister Tlapa received Ambassador of Tunisia Souiden

On 5 March 2020, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Martin Tlapa received new Ambassador of Tunisia in the Czech Republic Madame Yosra Souiden. Their conversation concerned bilateral cooperation, political development in Tunisia, migration and security in the region and impact of the crisis in Libya.

Tunisia is one of the most popular touristic destinations of the Czech citizens. Since the terrorist attacks in 2015, the confidence in the capacity of the Tunisian government to provide security to foreign visitors has recovered and in 2019 more than 100 thousand Czechs spent their holidays in Tunisia.

Czech government is aware of the necessity to resolve the roots of the illegal migration from the African continent to Europe in the countries of the origin of the migrants and, therefore, it approved a program of assistance to the countries hit by the terrorism and illegal migration. Tunisia will be one of the countries where these projects are realised.
