Minister Petříček received the new Ambassador of the Republic of Korea

 

On 18th June 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Tomáš Petříček, met with the new Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Czech Republic, Kim Tae-jin. The main topics of discussion were the fight against the coronavirus pandemic as well as economic cooperation.

During the meeting, Minister Petříček praised the high level of mutual relations. In connection with the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Head of Czech Diplomacy recalled the Korean assistance in the repatriation of Czech citizens from Australia and New Zealand, and Ambassador Kim Tae-jin thanked the Czech Government for granting an exemption for Hyundai employees.

The Czech Foreign Minister also praised the level of economic cooperation, when a number of Korean companies invested in Czechia and, expressed interest to further develop mutual relations in areas such as culture, education, science and technology and defence and security cooperation. The Republic of Korea is the third largest investor in the Czech Republic and Czechia's second most important trading partner in Asia. The investments of Korean companies created about 12,000 jobs in the Czech Republic.
