Minister Petříček at 75th UN General Assembly

 

Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomáš Petříček will participate, with a pre-recorded message, in the High-level Meeting of the UN General Assembly to Commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations. The meeting started on Monday, 21 September 2020 and will continue in October 2020. The General Debate of the 75th UN General Assembly started on Tuesday 22 September. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš will deliver our national address. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic this year’s UN high-level meetings will take place predominantly in a virtual manner.

Minister Petříček also spoke at a ministerial meeting to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Responsibility to Protect (ODKAZ na vystoupení), which underscored State’s responsibility for protection of its citizens from serious violations of their human rights. He further participated in the ministerial meeting of the Alliance for Multilateralism (ODKAZ na vystoupení). Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Martin Smolek participated in a virtual meeting of the Informal Ministerial Network for the International Criminal Court.

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš further took part in Leaders Event on Nature & People and in the UN Summit on Biodiversity. Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Jana Maláčová will deliver a statement at the High-level Meeting of the General Assembly on the 25th Anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women
