Quarter-century of Europe - Asia dialogue

On March1, on the occasion of Asia-Europe Meeting Day (ASEM), Europe and Asia commemorate their 25 years of structured dialogue. The Czech Republic considers ASEM a useful tool for intensified cooperation and between Europe and Asia. It helps us promote Czech foreign policy priorities towards the whole continent, but it is also a good quality complement to our bilateral relations with individual Asian countries.
The meetings of ASEM members are not only a platform to discuss practical cooperation and regional issues, but also to tackle global issues such as effective multilateralism, international trade and human rights. Members often discuss regional and global tensions and conflicts.
The Czech Republic actively participates in the ASEM process. In 2019, Minister Tomáš Petříček attended the meeting of 51 ASEM foreign ministers in Madrid. The postponed 13th ASEM summit at the level of heads of state or government will take place this year.
