State Secretary Miloslav Stašek’s Meeting with Senior Director of Europe Center at the Atlantic Council

 

State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Miloslav Stašek held talks with the representatives of the Atlantic Council on November 19, 2021. The meeting took place on the occasion of the Transatlantic Policy Forum held in Prague on November 18-19.

State Secretary Miloslav Stašek received Senior Director of the Europe Centre at the Atlantic Council Benjamin Haddad and the Associate Director Denise Forsthuber to discuss the transatlantic relations, EU-US cooperation, global and regional stability, and the role of Central and Eastern Europe from the perspective of transatlantic partners.

State Secretary expressed his thanks for the existing cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the Atlantic Council, and declared commitment for intensive contacts in the future. He praised frequency, level and visibility of the events devoted to the topics related to Central and Eastern Europe. Benjamin Haddad, a renowned expert on European politics and transatlantic relations, informed on the broad scope of programs at the Atlantic Council. He welcomed the possibility of participation of Atlantic Council’ Fellows at the conferences and seminars organized by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, e.g. Summer School of European Studies for foreign and Czech junior diplomats and civil servants.

The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs has signed a partnership agreement with the Atlantic Council in 2020, which includes an annual secondment of a Czech diplomat to a Visiting Fellow position. Miloslav Stašek has concluded the talk with a believe that the partnership with Atlantic Council could increase its potential during the Czech EU Presidency.
