Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Europe and the EU Molly Montgomery visited Prague

 

Molly Montgomery, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State responsible for Western Europe and the EU, met  on July 20, 2022 with Political Director and Junior Deputy Minister David Konecký, Junior Deputy Minister and Americas Department Director Veronika Kuchyňová Šmigolová, and Special Envoy for Eastern Partnership Jaroslav Kurfürst.

The parties agreed on the need to maintain unity and resolve of the democratic world to counter Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. The priorities of the Czech presidency in the Council of the EU were discussed, including the support of territorial integrity, post-war reconstruction and assistance to Ukraine. The talks focused on the Russia sanctions regime, as well. Additionally, the parties discussed cooperation between the EU and the US in ​​East Asia and relations with China. Czechia supports close cooperation of the European Union and the United States, and values ​​mutual consultation within the framework of regular strategic dialogues.
