Deputy Minister Aleš Chmelař met with Romana Vlahutin, Special Envoy for Connectivity of the European External Action Service

 

On 16 February 2022, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Issues, Aleš Chmelař, together with the Political Director, David Konecký, met with the Special Envoy for Connectivity of the European External Action Service, Romana Vlahutin.

The aim of the consultations was primarily to familiarize the Czech side with the strategic aspects of global connectivity of the European Union, especially with a view to the expected role of the Czech Republic in the global connectivity of the EU during the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of this year. Other topics included the preparation of the EU ministerial meeting with the Central Asia region and 2. Connectivity Forum with the participation at Prime Ministerial level.

During a two-day visit to Prague, Romana Vlahutin also met with the Director of the European Union's Policy Department, Jana Brázdová. A round table was also held for representatives of the departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dealing with topics linked to global connectivity. Ambassador Vlahutin also held talks with Deputy Minister for European Affairs of the Office of the Government Marek Havrda, where the topic of digital connectivity and the possibilities of czech industry involvement resonated.
