Deputy Minister Martin Tlapa held consultations with Kuwait Deputy Foreign Minister Al-Dhafiri

On 20 June 2022, Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Tlapa held political consultations with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Majdi Ahmad Al-Dhafiri. The main topic of discussion was the exchange of views on how to support the dynamics of mutual political relations and bilateral trade and investments. The Deputy Ministers also talked about cooperation during the upcoming CZ PRES, including development of strategic relations between the EU and the GCC countries. A significant part of the meeting was devoted to an exchange of views on the crisis in Ukraine and developments in the Gulf region.

Relations between the Czech Republic and Kuwait have traditionally been friendly, and both Deputy Ministers have discussed ways to give them a new impetus. The way should include the joint preparation of a roadmap for the further development of the relation, the conduct of bilateral visits, the preparation of trade missions and the conclusion of negotiations on an agreement on economic and technical cooperation.

The Kuwaiti market offers business opportunities for Czech exporters, who can offer original, innovative and advanced technologies and systems in promising sectors, such as ICT, defence industry, healthcare, energy, construction industry. The Kuwaiti market is relatively small, but has a high purchasing power of consumers who demand a wide range of imported goods, from basic to luxury. Czech companies could be interested in participating in some modernization and transformation projects implemented by the Kuwaiti government under the Kuwait Vision 2035 program.
