Minister Lipavsky’s call with the Bucharest Format (B9) countries and France on Security in Eastern Europe

On Thursday 3 February, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský joined a VTC with his counterparts from the Bucharest Format (B9) and France. The call focused on the state of security in Easter Europe as the region has been facing Russian military build-up close to the Ukrainian borders.
Minister Lipavsky emphasised to his partners the importance of seeking a diplomatic solution. He welcomed France’s and Germany’s effort to hold talks within the Normandy Format, which contains of France, Germany, Ukraine and Russia. Minister Lipavsky stressed the key importance of NATO unity and the need to help Ukraine in their defence, including the strengthening of NATO eastern flank.
The Bucharest Format consists Czechia, Bulgaria, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
