In the context of the unfolding dramatic developments in Ukraine and the upcoming UN Security Council session, the Gabonese Minister of Defense pointed out that President Ali Bongo Ondimba entrusted him to sound out the positions of European countries, including the Czech Republic, to be going to be at the helm of the European Union in the second half of the year.

Minister Adamo presented Gabon´s strategic priorities and conveyed his belief that the Czech Republic could become a partner or even the main partner country to be involved in the modernization of the Gabonese armed forces.

Gabon tries to actively contribute to the stabilization of the region of Central Africa. In this context Minister Adamo specified that Gabon is well appraised, from acting in Central African Republic, with the negative consequences of the activities of the Russian paramilitary units, so called Wagner Group.

Gabon is striving to diversify its foreign contacts in trade and economic domains. Both partners agreed that the longstanding relations between the Czech Republic and Gabon are friendly and non-conflictual. Both are interested in swiftly developing collaboration, especially in defense and security, health and environmental protection.
