The 6th PSSI Space Security Conference entitled “The Global Space Competition: Security, Markets and Sanctions” begins today. Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský will address the conference on its second day. The conference is organized on June 19-21, 2022, at the premises of the Czernin Palace by the Prague Security Studies Institute (PSSI) under the auspices of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Transportation, and Defence.
The conference will seek to illuminate the connectivity among global space commerce, deterrence/security-related considerations, and proper space governance. The conference brings together leading space policy-makers, senior military and civilian government officials, industry leaders, and distinguished NGO and academia representatives.
Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine has highlighted the critical importance of space systems in international conflict zones -- and this crisis in particular -- as well as the use of economic and financial (E&F) tools for both penalties and deterrence. The private sector has likewise demonstrated its importance, including contribution to vital communications, understanding the battlespace, and other critical services.
