The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic condemns the acts of violence reported in the last few days from Kosovo and calls on all parties concerned to restore order without delay. The building of a safe and democratic Kosovo, having its place in Europe, is not possible without the restoration of inter-ethnic confidence, seriously harmed again by the latest events.
The MFA supports the efforts of the UNMIK and KFOR to restore peace and order. The local autonomous authorities in Kosovo should be more involved in these efforts. It believes in the multi-ethnic future of Kosovo and therefore regards the return of the displaced persons and the protection of rights of all inhabitants of Kosovo the key criterion of maturity of society in Kosovo.
The MFA calls on all parties concerned to refrain from acts that
could lead to the further worsening of the present fragile
situation in the province.
