Statement of the MFA on the Current Situation in Ukraine

The MFA welcomes the decision of the Ukrainian Parliament to adopt a set of political constitutional reforms, Presidential election law and self-government law reforms, as well as the decision on the composition of the new Central Election Commission. The Czech Republic appreciates the fact that President Kuchma signed these reforms.(9/12/2004)
The MFA of the Czech Republic continues to closely follow the development of the political situation in Ukraine after the second round of Presidential elections.
The MFA welcomes the decision of the Ukrainian Parliament to adopt a set of political constitutional reforms, Presidential election law and self-government law reforms, as well as the decision on the composition of the new Central Election Commission. The Czech Republic appreciates the fact that President Kuchma signed these reforms.
It is the belief of the Czech Republic that the renewed second
round of Presidential elections will be accomplished in accordance
with the engagements of Ukraine with regard to its membership in
international organisations and the elections will meet democratic
standards. The Czech Republic is ready to send observers.
