The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic welcomes the nomination of the Iraqi Provisional Government and of the President of Iraq as the decisive step on the road towards building a free, prosperous and democratic Iraq.

The Czech MFA wishes the new Iraqi Government success in leading the country, in cooperation with the United Nations and the whole international community, to democratic and free elections.

The Czech MFA at the same time condemns the continuing terrorist attacks, aimed at impairing the determination of the Iraqi people to bring the reconstruction of their country to a successful end. The Czech MFA believes that the new government will succeed in eliminating extremist activities and, with the support of all Iraqi citizens, bring security and prosperity to Iraq.
