Statement of the MFA on the Chinese Law on Taiwan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic expresses its concerns about the adoption of the anti-secession law by the Chinese National People´s Congress on 14th March 2005. The law is aimed at legitimating the use of power against Taiwan, if Taiwan takes steps leading to independence.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic expresses its concerns about the adoption of the anti-secession law by the Chinese National People´s Congress on 14th March 2005. The law is aimed at legitimising the use of power against Taiwan, if Taiwan takes steps leading to independence.
The Czech Republic calls on both parties to avoid any unilateral
acts, for instance the threat of using power or use of power, which
would not contribute to a peacefull solution of the so called
Taiwan issue and could lead to a destabilisation of the situation
in the region.
