The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic expresses its sorrow over the dozens of victims among Lebanese population in the city of Qana.
The MFA welcomed the 48 hours stop of operations of Israeli Air Forces over the territory of southern Lebanon, which should enable the arrival of convoys bringing humanitarian aid to affected areas and the evacuation of population from places endangered by continuing fights.
The MFA believes that the extraordinary session of the EU
General Affairs and External Relations Council, which will take
place on 1st August 2006 in Brussels, will reach conclusions which
will enable the EU to contribute to the success of the
international community in its effort to stop the fights and find a
political solution, which would result in an agreement on the
sending of international forces to the region to support a stable
truce.
