The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic welcomes, that the European Commission monitoring report confirms the readiness of Bulgaria and Romania for EU membership from 1st January 2007.(27/9/2006)
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic welcomes, that the European Commission monitoring report confirms the readiness of Bulgaria and Romania for EU membership from 1st January 2007. The Czech Republic has been supporting in a long term the accession of both countries on this date.
The MFA considers the EC monitoring report as objectiv and balanced. The report underlines the high level of preparedness for EU membership of both countries. At the same time the EC makes reference to persisting problems in concrete areas of preparations and appeals to both future EU member countries for their expedite compliance. For areas, in which the preparations to the date of EU accession would not be fully accomplished, the EC proposes measures to be realised in order to finish these preparations.
The MFA emphasizes the importance of well done preparations
to the EU membership. In this perspective the MFA appreciates the
progress achieved by both countries from the last EC monitoring
report published in May 2006. The MFA sees the measures proposed in
the EC report as an incentive for both countries for finishing as
fast as possible the preparations in areas, in which some
deficiencies persist. The MFA believes that both countries will
deliver in this regard an increased effort already to the end of
this year.
