The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic is deeply concerned by the current development in Gaza and calls on all actors involved in the conflict to start truce negotiations immediately.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic calls on Hamas and other militant groups in Gaza to immediately cease rocket attacks against Israel and Israeli citizens to de-escalate the violence and to stop abusing the civilian population of Gaza by using them as human shields. We respect Israel's right to proportionate self-defense.
We deplore the high number of civilian casualties in Gaza that is increasing rapidly every day. We are watching with concern the deepening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and the associated worsening of living conditions for the civilian population.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic fully supports the diplomatic efforts of the United States, the Secretary General of the United Nations and the other regional partners, led by Egypt, in their search for possible solutions to the current crisis.
In accordance with the international community, we strongly urge all actors involved in the conflict to promptly accept the terms of an immediate and unconditional humanitarian cease-fire due to the extraordinary physical and mental suffering of the civilians on both sides.
