Statement of the MFA on the Incursion of the Russian Troops into Ukraine

The Czech Republic considers the incursion of the armed forces of the Russian Federation into the territory of eastern and southeastern Ukraine a fundamental threat to peace and stability of all of Europe. The steps taken by the Russian Federation are in direct contradiction not only with the basic rules of international law but also with the recent assurances given by President Putin at the Minsk summit about his willingness to achieve a peaceful solution to the crisis in eastern Ukraine. The Czech Republic therefore calls on the Russian Federation to immediately withdraw its troops from the Ukrainian territory.

The Czech Republic also reiterates its demands for the Russian Federation to cease the shelling of the Ukrainian territory from the territory of the Russian Federation, to abort the increasing deliveries of heavy military equipment and arms and to allow an independent control of the Ukraine-Russia border in its full length.
