Statement of the MFA on the Death of Minister Abu Ein

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic is deeply concerned about the death of the Minister of the Palestinian National Authority Ziad Abu Ein in the West Bank. We believe that this event and possible excessive use of force will be thoroughly and completely investigated and that international community will be timely and fully informed about the results.

Czech Republic is convinced that this tragic death is but another proof of the need to return to meaningful peace negotiations as soon as possible. It also turns to both sides to join efforts in calming down the situation on the ground.

We would also like to express our deepest condolences to the family of the minister Abu Ein as well as the Palestinian Government.
