Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Clashes in the Sinai Peninsula

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic strongly condemns the terrorist campaign initiated on July 1, 2015 by the adherents of the so-called Islamist State in the north of Sinai Peninsula which targeted Egyptian security forces and killed almost two dozens of police and military officers. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the victims, and we wish a speedy recovery to all the wounded ones.

The Government of the Czech Republic is determined to continue supporting the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt in its systematical efforts to eliminate terrorist groups whose only goal is to spread chaos and violence, to intimidate the overall Egyptian population and to destabilize the whole of the country.
