The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic strongly condemns the announcement by the Democratic People´s Republic of Korea (DPRK) that it carried out a test of hydrogen bomb on 6 January 2016.
If confirmed that a nuclear device has been detonated, this constitutes a clear violation of international obligations in particular under UN Security Council Resolutions 1718, 1874, 2087 and 2094. Indeed, such a test should be regarded as a highly irresponsible and regrettable act, which seriously threatens stability and peace on the Korean Peninsula in particular and in the region in general.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic urges the DPRK to immediately comply with all its international obligations and implement relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
