Statement of the MFA on the Suicide Attack in Istanbul

In connection with the suicide attack that took place in Istanbul in the morning of January 12, 2016 and claimed about 10 dead and at least 15 wounded, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic repeatedly and strongly condemns acts of terrorism committed in any form. It also supports the Turkish government and the measures it may adopt to address this appalling and tragic event. At the same time, the Ministry expresses its deepest condolences to the families of all victims and wishes the injured a fast recovery.

According to the information from our diplomatic missions in Turkey there are no Czech citizens among the victims or injured. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, however, strongly warns all Czech citizens in Turkey not to visit places with high concentration of people and encourages them to register their stay in the country in the DROZD system on the website of the Ministry.
