Statement on Ceasefire in Syria

Czech Republic welcomes the announcement of a US-Russian and Jordanian brokered ceasefire in southwest Syria and believes that its implementation will contribute to a nation-wide ceasefire and to an improvement of humanitarian access.

We understand this initiative as a contribution to the UN Security Council Resolution no. 2254 (2015) and together with the EU and HR/VP F. Mogherini we support intra-Syrian talks under UN-auspices in Geneva.
