Statement on the Resignation of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic welcomes that the people and political leaders of Zimbabwe have resolved the difficult internal political situation in a peaceful way. The abdication of President Robert Mugabe opens a path to better future for this country.

We wish that next steps of the Zimbabwean leadership lead the country to democratic, free and inclusive elections. We are convinced that Zimbabwean people are in a good position to build a prosperous society in their country again.
