MFA Statement on the DPRK’s Ballistic Missile Launch on November 29, 2017

On November 29, 2017, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) carried out another ballistic missile test, which represents a repeated flagrant violation of the international obligations under relevant UN resolutions.

The repeated tests of missiles by the DPRK constitute serious threat not only to the health and lives of civilian population but also to the stability of the Korean Peninsula and of the entire region, to the international peace and security.

The Czech Republic, as a member state of European Union, nowadays exercises the most restrictive sanctions towards the DPRK that go beyond those decided by the United Nations. And it is ready to further increase this pressure.

The Czech Republic urges the DPRK to abandon its missile programmes immediately and completely and re-engage in a constructive dialogue with the international community, as the only instrument ensuring sustainable development and prosperity at the Korean Peninsula.
