Czech Republic Rejects Any Accusation of Supporting Terrorism

With regard to the decision of the City Court in Prague of February 27, 2018, to release Mr. S. Müslüm, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic states the following: The Czech Republic strongly rejects any accusation of support of international terrorism. The Czech Republic, through the decision of the City Court in Prague, has not breached any of its obligations under international law, including those under the European Convention on Extradition. The extradition proceedings have not been concluded by this court decision. If Turkey delivers the request for S. Müslüm's extradition, the competent Czech authorities will process it in accordance with the said Convention and the law of the Czech Republic. In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic hereby strongly rejects any allegation that today's decision of an independent court might violate the obligations of the Czech Republic in the area of fight against international terrorism.
