MFA condemns decision to add Prague Civil Society Centre to Russian government’s list of “undesirable organisations”

We condemn the decision to add the Prague Civil Society Centre to the Russian government’s list of “undesirable organisations”. As repeatedly stated by the Czech Republic, the “Foreign Agents” and “Undesirable Organisations” legislation has set serious limits on the ability of NGOs to operate and have a serious impact on freedom of expression.

We believe that freely operating civil society combined with respect for the freedom of assembly and association and other human rights are important building blocks for a functioning democratic system. The Czech Republic remains committed to supporting civil society.
