On Wednesday, June 13th 2022, Minister J. Lipavský presented the priorities and activities for the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU to the informal Central 5 Group (C5) in Budapest. Afterwards, he traveled to Brussels where he spoke to the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs.

The C5 Group began with the aim of coping with the coronavirus pandemic. Czechia, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, and Slovenia are in the group. At the meeting, the delegates from all countries expressed support for the Czech EU Presidency. “We spoke about EU and Schengen enlargement. European perspectives for Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and the Western Balkans are among the top priorities of the Czech EU Presidency,” said the Czech head of diplomacy.

Jan Lipavský then presented the priorities of the Czech EU Presidency in the area of external relations to the members of the European Parliament. He also informed them about activities that will take place during the Presidency. After the appearance, there was a debate in which Minister Lipavský answered questions from the MEPs.
