Minister Lipavský met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam

On Friday, 9 June, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son.
The ministers discussed mainly bilateral relations. "We agreed on further mutual cooperation in the field of economy and trade. The EU-Vietnam free trade agreement is also a significant contribution to this," said Minister Lipavský.

The Czech Minister also mentioned the role of Vietnam as an important partner in the implementation of the Indo-Pacific cooperation strategy. "Nine months have passed since the adoption of our National Strategy for Cooperation with the Indo-Pacific and we have already held important meetings at the level of Prime Ministers and Ministers. We are cooperating in the defence industry and working on economic diplomacy projects. Vietnam is therefore one of our most important partners in the region," the Czech diplomatic chief said. The Czech Republic is also organising trade missions to Vietnam, thus promoting the interest of Czech investors.

Thanks to the great interest of Vietnamese society in Czech culture, the opening of the Czech Centre in Hanoi and a direct flight between Prague and Hanoi are being prepared.
Moreover, Czech-Vietnamese relations are based on a long tradition. Diplomatic relations between Czechoslovakia and Vietnam were established as early as 1950. The two countries are also brought closer by the presence of a large Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.
