Deputy Minister Chmelař received the Ambassador of Georgia

On May 20, 2020, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aleš Chmelař received Ambassador of Georgia to the Czech Republic Mariam Rakviashvili. Bilateral relations, coronavirus crisis and Eastern Partnership Policy were among main topics.

At the beginning, Deputy Minister Chmelař congratulated his counterpart on the upcoming National Day of Georgia, the Independence Day of May 26, which unfortunately cannot be marked by a traditional reception this year. Furthermore, he expressed his conviction that it will be possible to carry out all the postponed bilateral contacts as soon as possible and thus renew the high level of bilateral relations, including business cooperation. He appreciated quite successful management of the COVID-19 crisis by the Georgian Government and provided the Czech views on the Eastern Partnership Policy.

Ambassador Rakviashvili expressed gratitude for solidarity shown by the Czech government and the Visegrad Fund in context of the COVID-19 crisis and conveyed the interest of Georgia to welcome the Czech tourists on its territory already during this summer season.
