Videoconference of the V4 Ministers and Turkey

On June 19, 2020, a video teleconference meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers of the Visegrad Group (V4) and Turkey took place. The meeting was called together by the Czech Republic as the V4 Presidency.

The V4 Ministers were discussing with their Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu current foreign policy issues. They focused primarily on the topics related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the post-pandemic areas of cooperation, EU – Turkey relations, V4 – Turkey cooperation and migration.

“I consider Turkey an important partner both for the V4 countries and the whole EU, particularly in the areas of counter-terrorism, management of migrations, trade, foreign and security policy”, Minister Tomáš Petříček stated.

The meeting was the last event in the widened V4+ format on the Foreign Ministers level during the Czech V4 Presidency. On the last day of June, Minister Petříček will formally conclude the Czech V4 Presidency by a video teleconference with his counterparts and will be symbolically handing over the V4 Presidency for the next year to Poland.
