Closure of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kabul

Starting from 15 August 20201, the Czech Embassy in Kabul was temporary closed due to the unsustainable security situation. The staff of the Diplomatic Mission was evacuated to the Czech Republic.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, H. E. Jiri Baloun, continues to perform his duties from the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in Prague.

Provision of the Mission’s visa and consular services was fully transferred to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Islamabad, i.e. including processing visa applications of Afghan service and diplomatic passports holders, and the representation of unrepresented EU citizens of Hungary and Slovakia. We expect that the Afghan authorities will act according to the international law, respect Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations in particular and therefore protect the Embassy of the Czech Republic and its assets.
