Meeting with the CRIDA representatives and the ACCI vice president

The Deputy Head of Mission of the Czech Republic to Afghanistan, Stepan Konopasek, discussed economic opportunities with the Capital Region Development Authority (CRIDA) and with the 1st Vice President of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI), on 11 April 2021.

At a videoconference meeting, CRIDA representatives presented in detail the long-term vision of the regional development of the Kabul Capital Region and also the areas of interest of sectoral cooperation with Czech partners. The Kabul Capital Region (consisting of the city and the Kabul Province with the adjacent districts of the neighboring provinces of Kapisa, Wardak, Parwan and Logar) will undergo a planned transformation into a modern agglomeration in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) over the next five years to ensure economic and food self-sufficiency, services, business and employment opportunities, and last but not least, a healthy environment to its dwellers.

Through ambitious plan of building four logistics and industrial centers (Barikab, Maidanshahr, Surub and Muhammad Agha), CRIDA plans to facilitate development and investment in agriculture, industry, trade, logistics, energy and infrastructure, which will create a modern urban agglomeration. The economic development of the Kabul Capital Region represents a significant opportunity for the development of Czech-Afghan economic relations yielding prospective involvement to Czech companies in the construction of economic zones and logistics parks, waste management, water management, mining industry, solar energy and agriculture sectors.

ACCI Vice President Mohammad Yunas Mohmand during in-person meeting at the Embassy voiced Chamber's interest in intensifying volume of the trade exchange between Czechia and Afghanistan by deepening cooperation between the two countries' respective Chambers. The ACCI interested in cooperation mainly in the automotive and food sectors.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kabul welcomes new opportunities for a significant deepening of economic relations: increase in trade between the two countries is a priority in the long-term goals of the Embassy.
