Meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister M. Nab

The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Afghanistan, Jiri Baloun, held talks with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, Mirwais Nab, on the peace process, political, development and economic support for Afghanistan, on 27 April 2021.

The main topic of the talks was the development of the peace process, the position of the Afghan Government and the implications of withdrawal of the international military presence within the Resolute Support Mission. Ambassador Baloun briefed Deputy Nab on the Czech Republic's activities, especially in the field of diplomatic and economic aassistance, carried out both bilaterally and multilaterally, within the UN, EU and NATO, and assured him of continued support in the future, if the security situation allows.

The Deputy Minister Nab praised Czech support, especially with regard to the statement at the Geneva Conference (November 2020) on foreign development and humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, and on fundamental principles such as human rights and the preservation of socetal outcomes achieved in the past twenty years. Furthermore, the two representatives talked about a possible intensification of cooperation between the two countries, not only in the economic sectors, especially in air traffic control, cyber security and infrastructure development, but also in the field of education.
