Project completed: Emerging Afghan women leaders' empowerment

As part of the transformation cooperation projects of the Czech Republic, five education seminars were organised by an NGO ETWA for Afghan women in five provinces in July and August 2020.

The seminars took place at the provincial town halls' premises in Nuristan, Panjshir, Baghlan, Balkh, and Paktiya provinces, with total attendance of 280 women. The panelists, women working at leading positions in state and local administration, shared their experience and advice in an open discussion. Participants asked questions mostly about government's female job creation, higher education facilities and safe environment.

Throughout the sessions, successful female panelists created safe and motivating environment, especially for those participants facing restrictions in their education and employment. Purposeful and able Afghan women sometimes face a number of obstacles in their freedom of action to achieve desired education or employment. The education seminars were aimed at overcoming those obstacles in their careers. As a result, communication network has been established between the present and emerging generation of Afghan women leaders.
