Business Mission of Czech Green Technology Manufacturers to Malaysia (October 2017)

Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kuala Lumpur organized on 10th-13th October a business mission of Czech green technology manufacturers and suppliers counting 20 representatives of eight companies and one university. The aim of the mission was  to gain first-hand experience for the participants with the Malaysian market, assess the opportunities present in Malaysia and establish new business connections. In the course of the mission, the participating companies were present at the Embassy's booth of the biggest regional green technology expo IGEM 2017. They also presented their products and services during the „Czech Republic Green Technology Presentations and Business Matching 2017“, a business seminar attended by over 50 representatives of Malaysian businesses and other institutions. The Embassy has also arranged for a  program with Malaysia Green Building Confederation. The mission was supported by H.E. Mr. Martin Tlapa, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and H.E. Vladislav Smrž, the Deputy Minister of Environment of the Czech Republic.

The twenty members business delegation comprised of eight companies and one university: Cink Hydro Energy (small-scale hydropower), BAC (strong degreasing and decontamination),  Nafigate (bioplastics from cooking oil and air filtering nanofiber window nettings), Khaanzaa (hydropower), SVCS Process Innovation (foundries for semiconductor element production), Enviropol (EEE-waste recycling), Avas Export-Import (minerals for water treatment), Applycon and the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (who cooperate in a consortium developing and commercializing smart firefighting equipment).

The Embassy in cooperation with the Malaysia Green Building Confederation prepared a guided tour of a the building of the Energy Commission Malaysia (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) in Putrajaya, first building in Malaysia to obtain the platinum GBI certification (Green Building Index), a networking session with the member companies of the Malaysia Green Building Confederation, officiated by its president, Ir. Ahmad Izdihar Supaat, was organized as well.

At the IGEM 2017, the green technology exhibition taking place on 11th - 13th October, 2017 in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the Czech Republic was present as part of the EU pavilion as the most visible EU member state, company-wise. The exhibition booth was visited by the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water of Malaysia Maximus Johnity Ongkili, accompanied by H.E. Rudolf Hykl, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Malaysia.

The government support of Czech businesses at IGEM was further boosted by the participation of H.E. Martin Tlapa, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Vladislav Smrž, the Deputy Minister of Environment, who promoted the participating Czech companies both during their official meetings and during media interviews with the major Malaysian media outlets.

On 12th October, 2017, the Embassy held a business seminar titled „Czech Republic Green Technology Presentations and Business Matching 2017“. The event, which was a part of the main IGEM program took place at KLCC and was officiated by H.E. Vladislav Smrž, the Deputy Minister of Environment of the Czech Republic; Company presentations of all exhibiting Czech businesses and a business matching session with more than 50 representatives of Malaysian businesses and organizations, who showed a substantial interest in the Czech technologies and products.
