We know what we have - Tatra Trucks - Part 8

Each of us met their cars. Whether with plastic models as a child on the sandpit or as an adult in virtually any terrain. The Army of the Czech Republic alone has several thousand of them. The machines from this company managed to win the Paris-Dakar Rally 18 times and to travel the whole world with Mr. Zikmund and Mr. Hanzelka. There are almost half a million of them servingl in more than 100 countries around the world. We could have not simply omited this producer in our #WeKnowWhatWeHave series. Deputy of Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic for Industrial Cooperation, Mr. Tomáš Kopečný visited the TATRA TRUCKS company in Kopřivnice this time.

The Koprivnice automotive maker, known under the TATRA brand, ranks among the oldest car and truck factories in the world and, with more than 170-year continuous aktivity they have significantly influenced the automotive industry in the Czech Republic, as well as abroad. Since March 2013, the company TATRA TRUCKS owned by Czech shareholders and underwent restructuring.

TATRA TRUCKS a.s. closely works with the Group companies CSG CZECHOSLOVAK GROUP and PROMET GROUP. Altogether they create more than 10,000 jobs and generate revenues of CZK 27 billion (2017).

Today's range of TATRA vehicles

The current truck range comes up to meet the customer requirements. The civilian production is represented mainly by TATRA PHOENIX and TATRA TERRA vehicles, while the special and military production is represented by TATRA FORCE and TATRA TACTIC commercial ranges.

The company’s important business territories traditionally include Russia, the former CIS countries, Israel, India, the Arabian Peninsula, Australia and Europe. The domestic market (Czech Republic, Slovakia) is dominated by the customers such as the Czech Army, Fire Brigade, Armed Forces of the SR, and the commercial customers are e.g. Revitrans a.s. (formerly SD - Autodoprava) or Lesy Slovenské republiky (Forests of the Slovak Republic).

The excellent driving characteristics and numerous technical and design innovations of TATRA vehicles have been verified through long-distance races over many years. TATRA crews have achieved the greatest successes in the famous Dakar Rally.

The aim of the whole series is to present strategically important Czech manufacturers in the field of defense industry to the general public and to support them abroad as well. Her motto is: We know what we have and we want you to know it too.
