Czech ICT Delegation Visited Malaysia

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kuala Lumpur organized on September 29th - October 1st, 2014, in cooperation with the Czech ICT Alliance, a mission of representatives of the Czech information and communication technology sector to Malaysia.

The aim of the project, on which a delegation comprising the representatives of the Czech ICT businesses, government academic institutions arrived specially to Kuala Lumpur, was to help establish direct business contacts and foundations for a long term cooperation in the ICT sector.

The mission was led  by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Malaysia, H.E. Rudolf Hykl. Its members were Mr. Michal Zálešák, Executive Director of the Czech ICT Alliance, Prof. Pavel Zemčík, Vice-Dean for External Relations, Faculty of Information Technology of the Technical University in Brno, Mr. Petr Kučera, CEO of Power Patterns, Mr. Jaroslav Burčík, Director of Inovacentrum of the Czech Technical University in Prague, Mr. Matouš Kostlivý, ICT Sector Manager of the CzechInvest Agency and Mr. Jan Rančák, CEO of Datera.

The Czech delegation held talks with the management of the Malaysian government agency Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC).  It also visited the new IBM Global Delivery Center in Cyberjaya, a science and technology cluster close to Kuala Lumpur. The delegates were received by the management of the largest private university in Malaysia, the  Multi Media University (MMU), where specific projects for academic cooperation were discussed.

On September 30th, 2014, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kuala Lumpur, in cooperation with the MDeC and Malaysian national association of information and communication technologies PIKOM, held a Czech-Malaysian ICT Forum. More than 60 representatives of Malaysian business sector, universities and  ICT industry attended the event. Business, investment and education opportunities in the ICT field in the Czech Republic and Malaysia were presented there. The Czech and Malaysian companies and institutions were able to establish direct business contacts as a result of a business matching session, which was a crucial part of the Forum.
