Czech Participation at Defence Services Asia Exhibition 2016

Thirty two representatives of eleven of Czech defence industry companies participated in an international exhibition of Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2016 in Kuala Lumpur from the 18th to 21st April, 2016. DSA is a biannual exhibition of defense technologies and services and ranks as one of the five largest exhibitions of its kind in the world. The participation of Czech companies in DSA 2016 was supported by the presence of the Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr. Tomáš Kuchta and the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, Lieutenant General Josef Bečvář. The delegation, which was accompanied by the Czech Ambassador Rudolf Hykl, included also the President of the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic Mr. Jiří Hynek.
Among the companies, which exhibited their products at DSA 2016 were prominent firms of Czech defence and security industry, such as Česká zbrojovka Uherský Brod, Sellier&Bellot, Omnipol, ERA, Optokon, Mesit and Meopta.
The DSA trade fair has a long tradition. The first DSA was held in Malaysia in 1988. This year's event was attended by over 1,200 defence companies from 60 countries. The Czech Republic had its own national pavilion. DSA 2016 attracted over 34,000 visitors from 37 countries.
During the fair, the Deputy Minister of Defence Tomáš Kuchta and the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic Lieutenant General Josef Bečvář met with senior representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Malaysia and several other participating countries. The participation of the Czech Republic in DSA 2016 was financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic.
