The Embassy of the Czech Republic, represented by the spouse of Ambassador and the Vice-president of SOHOM (Spouses of Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Malaysia) Mrs. Dasa Hyklova, co-organised the 1st International Charity Bazaar of the diplomatic community in Kuala Lumpur. This grand event, which took place on the December 7th, 2016 in a prestigious hotel of JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur, attracted more than 2 thousand visitors. The cultures of individual regions and states were presented also in special exhibitions at the event. The guest of honor of the Charity Bazaar, in which 43 of foreign embassies accredited to Malaysia took part, was the Spouse of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Datin Siti Rubiah Abdul Samat.

The Czech Republic, in addition to it’s overall organizational role (along with the Embassies of Mexico and the Philippines), was present at the Bazaar by it’s own booth. Traditional Czech products such as glass, Carlsbad wafers, chocolate and food industry products, as well as homemade Christmas cookies, were offered. A Czech food manufacturer of Emco provided sponsorship with it’s cereals.

The individual national presentations were carried out both by embassies and foreign companies, which were offering for sale food and craft products, clothes and decorations covering as diverse countries as Norway, Ghana, the countries of the Middle East, South Korea, New Zealand and nations from Latin America. The whole day event was concluded by a cultural performance organized by the Embassy of the Philippines.

All the proceeds from the Charity Bazaar will be donated to charity projects in Malaysia. The 1st International Charity Bazaar organized by the diplomatic community was covered by Malaysian media, including the largest daily of The Star.
