The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Malaysia organized a business presentation on September 12, 2017 for members of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers in the Malaysian State of Johor.

The event, which was attended by more than 40 participants, especially from the industry, aimed to present the economic profile of the Czech Republic and specific Czech manufacturers from the sectors such as transport and aviation, power, mechanical and electrical engineering, electronics, healthcare, pharmacy and the chemical industry or nanotechnology.

The presentation took place with the presence of the entire leadership of the federation, including its chairman Haji Abdullah Sharif and four of its vice-presidents.

The Czech Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Rudolf Hykl, presented the Czech economy profile and bilateral trade and economic activities, while specific business and investment opportunities were presented by Lenka Tomanova, Economic Counsellor at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kuala Lumpur.

To this end, the Czech Embassy in Kuala Lumpur also made and screened a special video-presentation containing, in agreement with the Czech manufacturers concerned, the selection of relevant Czech products, including products by Tatra, Zetor, Škoda Electric, ERA, Linet, Transcon and Aircraft Industries.

However, within the presentation of the Czech Embassy, a whole range of further Czech products of the companies such as Škoda Auto, Škoda Transportation, Alta, Šmeral, Žďas, Wikov, ČKD Blansko, Barum Continental, Tesla Jihlava, Evektor, Aero Vodochody and many others was presented.

Mr. Zavadil, the director of the foreign office of CzechTrade based in Singapore, presented activities of the Czech trade promotion agency and offered to the FMM members to facilitate specific business contacts with the Czech partners.

The main objective of this initiative was to raise awareness of Czech firms, products and services among the potential partners in Johor - rapidly developing Malaysian state, which borders with Singapore on the south and which, to a large extent, makes use of the synergies with this city-state.

Johor's GDP growth has been above the average GDP growth of the whole Malaysia in recent years. Also in terms of the volume of foreign direct investment, the State of Johor ranks the first among all the Malaysian states.

The Iskandar Development Zone, which spreads out in Johor Bahru and surrounding areas, is based on the sectoral priority such as financial services, the healthcare, the diversification towards high-tech industries, industrial parks in the field of robotics, green technologies both in housing and industrial sector, renewable energy and, more recently, also creative industries.
