Tourism Promotion of Czech Republic in Malaysia

On 25th October 2016 the CzechTourism Agency held a workshop named "Discover Central Europe" at the Grand Millenium Hotel Kuala Lumpur, with the aim to promote the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary as attractive tourist destinations. The presentation of the Czech Republic was conducted by the Director of the CzechTourism office in Hong Kong, Mr. Jan Urban. The highlight of the event was the matchmaking session and B2B networking with  local tour operators and travel agents, who were offered travel packages and tailor made arrangements for the local market. The workshop was a part of the Southeast Asia Roadshow 2016, which also included workshops in Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta and Manila. The project was financed by the Visegrad Group and directed by the CzechTourism office in Hong Kong. 

The Czech participation included six companies,Abante, Art of Travel, Europea.travel, Dream Tours, Fashion Arena Prague Outlet and Europe Express Travel Service. On the Malaysian side, over 70 persons attended. The main aim was to establish business cooperation with local tour operators, which would then be able to include the Czech Republic into their catalogues.
The event was opened by speeches of ambassadors of the Visagrad Group countries - the Czech Republic, H.E. Rudolf Hykl, Poland,H.E. Marcin Kubiak, and Hungary, H.E. Attila Kali, followed by presentations of the participating tourism agencies of the Visegrad Group and main sponsors of the event - Turkish Airlines and Rail Europe. 

Director of the CzechTourism office in Hong Kong, Mr. Jan Urban introduced the Czech Republic both as a country of historical monuments and natural wonders, and an attractive lifestyle, spa and culinary destination. During the B2B matching, the companies offered not only travel packages, but also discounted rates on the transportation by Turkish Airlines and Rail Europe. 
Later on the same day, another presentation of the Czech Republic as an attractive tourist destination was held as a part of the ongoing Travel Talk programme in the MindSpace community centre. The event, co-organized by the Embassy, attracted 35 participants, mainly local residents interested in travelling. The event was opened by the economic officer of the Embassy, Mr. Vojtech Hromek, followed by the Director of the CzechTourism office in Hong Kong, Mr. Jan Urban, who took the participants on a journey through rague and regions. He also presented footage of folklore traditions and celebrations. The subsequent discussion touched numerous topics, including the differences between Czech spas as opposed to what is understood as spa in Malasyia. After the presentation, a tasting of Czech cuisine took place through the sponsorship by the Embassy.
