Tun Dr. Mahathir Visited the Czech Republic

President of the Czech Republic Mr. Milos Zeman received on September 3rd, 2014 in the Prague Castle, the former longtime prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir. Tun Mahathir was instrumental in arranging for a capital entry of a Malaysian company Aspirasi Pertivi into a Czech aircraft manufacturer of Evektor from Kunovice. Tun Mahathir was the Prime Minister of Malaysia from 1981-2003.
While in the Czech Republic, Dr. Mahathir also met with the Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Tlapa and representatives of Czech corporate sector and economic institutions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
The agreement on strategic cooperation between Evektor and the Malaysian investor was signed on June 26, 2014 in Kuala Lumpur. It is the first large Malaysian investment in the Czech Republic with expected volume of USD 200 mil.
The aim of the investment is to support the completion of certification process and the start of series production of a Czech multipurpose twin engine aircraft of EV-55 Outback. The aircraft is developed by a consortium of 17 Czech air industry manufacturers. Tun Dr. Mahathir visited during the trip the factory of Evektor located in Kunovice in Eastern Moravia.
