Visa services offered by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kuala Lumpur

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kuala Lumpur in accordance with relevant provisions of the Protective Measure of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic offers only a limited scope of visa services. Exemptions for fully vaccinated persons apply.

In order to ensure safety for both applicants and the consular staff, specific measures as well application number daily limits are be applied with regards to the submission of below stated visa applications. All applicants are requested to enter the embassy with a facemask. Bodily temperature may be measured. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. 

Citizens of Malaysia and legally residing aliens (proof of a valid residence permit with a validity exceeding 366 days required) who have been fully vaccinated with one of the EU approved vaccines (see details below) can arrive to the Czech Republic (or apply for any visa - see article on visa services) for any purpose without needing to observe any additional quarantine measures (i.e. no need to get tested or to self-isolate). You will only be required to fill out an Czech arrival entry form before arriving (not necessary for children under the age of six years of age).

Detailed explanation who is considered to be a fully vaccinated person:

Fully vaccinated persons (= at least 14 days after administration of a second dose, in case of a two-phased vaccine) with one of the following vaccines:

● AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria)
● Moderna (Spikevax)
● Pfizer BioNTech (Comirnaty)
● Johnson & Johnson (Janssen)
● Covishield

in one of the countries whose vaccination certificate CZE recognizes:

● EU Member States   

● Armenia, Bahrain, Brazil, Chile, Hong Kong, Iceland, Israel, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Uruguay, Vatican

In order to be allowed entry as a fully vaccinated person, you will be required to present your VACCINATION CERTIFICATE.

Scope of operations for not vaccinated:

Long-term visa and residence permits:

a) Receipt of applications for: 

  • - residence permit for the purpose of scientific research (including a spouse and a minor child) 
  • - long-term/permanent residence permit for the purpose of family unification, long-term visa for the family purpose - only in case of spouses and minor children of foreigners who have a valid residence permit in the Czech Republic (other family members cannot file the application at the moment),
  • - residence permit / long-term visa for study purposes, however excluding study in non-acreditted programmes (purpose "other"),
  • - residence permit within the governmental Programme for Key and Scientific Staff,
  • - residence permit within the Programme for Highly Qualified Employees,
  • - long-term visa with the purpose of seasonal employment (Acceptance of Employee Card Applications is suspended until further notice),
  • - long-term visa or residence permit for cultural and sports purpose.

When enter the Czech Republic it is obligatory to present a negative result certificate of the RT-PCR test for detecting the SARS-CoV-2 virus otherwise entry will be refused!

Receipt of new long-term visa / residence permit applications for any other purpose than the above stated continues to be suspended.


Acceptance of Schengen visa applications for not vaccinated is suspended with these exceptions:

  • - receipt of visa applications from family members of Czech citizens and EU citizens living on the territory of the Czech Republic,
  • - receipt of visa applications from individuals whose entry is in the interest of the Czech Republic,
  • - receipt of visa applications from diplomats and officials working for international organizations accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic,
  • - receipt of visa applications from a few other applicants as per the Protective Measure of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic

We therefore ask for applicants' cooperation in observing hygienic rules when visiting the consulate. Applicants will be required to use hands' disinfection, wear face masks and maintain at least 2 meters distance. The number of persons who can simultaneously enter the consulate premises will be limited.
