Long-term Visa

The Czech authorities will issue a visa for a stay for more than 90 days upon the request of a foreign national, who intends to stay in the Czech Republic for study, employment, business or family unification. The processing time is approx. 90 days (60 days for student visa) from the day the Embassy receives a complete application file.
 

Applicants need to book their appointment The Embassy's monthly capacity is 48 slots for short-stay (Schengen) visa applicants, 12 slots for long-stay visa and 12 slots for long-term residence permit applicants.

 

Long-term Visa

When lodging a long-term visa or residence permit application, the so-called territorial consular competence rule applies. Applicants therefore can submit their applications for visa ONLY in the country/territory of which they are nationals, which issued their travel document, or in which they reside legally on a long-term or permanent basis (see the above link for exemptions).

Foreign applicants have to be residing in Malaysia legally* and continously for at least two years (more than 731 days) already on a long-term visa (not on a single-entry visa or visas). The residence permit(s) proving applicant's stay in Malaysia need(s) to be in a form of a sticker in the applicant's passport only (no ePass extension) and its remaining validity has to exceed 90 days (necessary processing time for a long-term visa). This is a legal requirement pursuant to the §169g of the Aliens Code No. 326/1999 Coll.
* This requirement does not apply for citizens of Papua-New Guinea, Kiribati and Tuvalu.

* dependants of someone applying in one of the above categories

How to apply?

Please submit following original documents (not copies or printed scans) translated into Czech language (any good quality translation is acceptable). Please note that passports and bank statements (internet banking printouts) do not have to be translated.

* travel document (passport), validity of which exceeds the expected length of stay by at least 90 days with a couple of blank visa pages available (+ photocopy of data page)

* in case of foreigners legaly residing in Malaysia - photocopy of the applicant's valid Malaysian residence permit in a form of a sticker(s) in the applicant's passport  (no ePass extension) issued at least two years ago with a validity of each permit (date of issue - date of expiry) exceeding 366 days. This is a legal requirement pursuant to the §169g of the Aliens Code No. 326/1999 Coll., as amended). There are no exemptions from this requirement. 

* one long-term visa application form per applicant, dully filled in and signed by the applicant

 

* two identical passport size photographs (3,5 x 4,5 cm)

 * an official letter from applicant's employer/university stating employee's/student's position and purpose of the trip

* contract of employment/study or another proof of long term stay

* evidence of financial sufficiency (bank statements etc.) - minimum required amount differs according to the intended purpose of stay (see below)

* confirmation of accomodation

* Certificate of Good Conduct from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia (and from a home country, if you are a foreigner in Malaysia and every other country you stayed for longer than 6 months in the last 3 years)

The processing time is approximately 90 days (60 days for student visa) from the date the Embassy receives a complete application file. In some particularly complicated cases, the procedure could take up to 120 days.

Pursuant to the  Article 57, para 2 of the Aliens Code No. 326/1999 Coll., as amended, the Embassy has a right to conduct an interview with the applicant. The interview is conducted in Czech or English, but its transcript is always in the Czech language only. Should the applicant is not able to communicate in Czech or English, he/she needs to obtain an official interpreter on his/her account.

LONG-TERM STUDENT VISA

REQUIREMENTS

All documents have to be presented in original or legalized copies. All documents apart from the passport and the bank statement have to be translated into the Czech language. No documents (except for your birth certificate and your passport) should be older than 180 days.

1. Application form. The long-term visa application form must be filled out completely with a ball point pen or by a typewriter with black or blue ink.

2. Two (2) identical photographs. Photographs must be of an official passport size (3,5 x 4,5 cm) and must be a full face view, side or angled views are not accepted.

3. Travel document (passport), validity of which exceeds the expected length of stay by at least 90 days with a couple of blank visa pages available (+ photocopy of data page)

* in case of foreigners legaly residing in Malaysia - Foreign applicants have to be residing in Malaysia legally and continously for at least two years (more than 731 days) already on a long-term visa (not on a single-entry visa or visas). The residence permit(s) proving applicant's stay in Malaysia need(s) to be in a form of a sticker in the applicant's passport only (no ePass extension) and its remaining validity has to exceed 90 days (necessary processing time for a long-term visa). 4. Proof of sufficient funds. You can prove the funds by presenting bank statements for the last three months (or an original letter from the bank with a notarized translation into Czech) and internationally accepted bank card(s) issued in your name. The minimum amount required is  2500 EUR (or equivalent in other currency) for first three months plus 260 EUR (or equivalent in other currency) for every subsequent month of the intended stay (example: one year study - required minimum is 4800 EUR (or equivalent in other currency)).

5. Proof of the purpose of stay.

Usually, it will be the Letter of Acceptance (in Czech) issued and signed and/or stamped by the school representative. There may also be other documents certifying that you will be attending a school, a training course, an internship, etc. Such letters will usually be included in the confirmation of pre-arranged accommodation of the student.

6. Proof of accommodation (in Czech). The following options are possible:

a) Confirmation of the school's pre-arranged accommodation;

b) Legalized document stating that you have the use of an apartment for the duration of your stay;

c) Legalized document confirming that you own an apartment;

d) Legalized document confirming that you will lease an apartment or a part of it. Also, present an affidavit signed by the owner confirming the lease;

e) Original or notarized statement from either an owner or tenant of an apartment stating their ability and will to provide you with accommodation;

f) Original or notarized confirmation of accommodation in a lodging facility (dormitory, hotel). It must specify the length of stay.

7. Photocopy of your Birth Certificate (in case of minors only) Such photocopy does not need to be legalized. Please note that only the Birth Certificate showing the names of your parents is accepted (i.e. the "wallet" form is not sufficient).

8. Certificate of Good Conduct from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia (and from a home country, if you are a foreigner in Malaysia and every other country you stayed for longer than 6 months in the last 3 years)

9.Travel medical insurance for the stay in the Czech Republic; the fully comprehensive insurance is to be purchased only after the application is approved.

10.  Application fee: 2500 CZK (cashless payment) or its equivalent in MYR in cash. This fee is non-refundable. Please note that additional consular fees may apply.

Please, bring also the copies of your supporting documents.

 

LONG-TERM BUSINESS VISA

REQUIREMENTS

 5. Proof of the purpose of stay.

If you want to perform any business activity, you need one of the following:

Document confirming discontinuation of the procedure of issuing a Trade License (Živnostenské oprávnění) from Živnostenský úřad. It is necessary to show that the reason for interruption of the procedure is the non-existence of the long stay visa;

Legalized copy of a Trade License (Živnostenský list);

If the Trade Licence is not issued yet, present notarized copy of a Preliminary Trade License (Ohlášení živnosti);

Legalized copy of a Business License (Koncesní listina);

Legalized copy of a Commercial Register Entry (Zápis do Obchodního rejstříku);

Legalized copy of a contract or agreement regarding establishment of a company.

 6. Proof of accommodation (in Czech). The following options are possible:

a) Legalized document stating that you have the use of an apartment for the duration of your stay;

b) Legalized document confirming that you own an apartment;

c) Legalized document confirming that you will lease an apartment or a part of it. Also, present an affidavit signed by the owner confirming the lease;
