As of 1 July 2020 the Council of  the EU adopted a recommendation on the gradual lifting of the temporary restrictions on non-essential travel into the EU. Travel restrictions should be lifted for countries listed in the recommendation, with this list being reviewed and, as the case may be, updated every two weeks. Based on the criteria and conditions set out in the recommendation, as from 1 July member states should start lifting the travel restrictions at the external borders for residents of the following third countries:

  • Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay, China, subject to confirmation of reciprocity

Travel restrictions may be totally or partially lifted or reintroduced for a specific third country already listed according to changes in some of the conditions and, as a consequence, in the assessment of the epidemiological situation. If the situation in a listed third country worsens quickly, rapid decision-making should be applied.

Based on a government decision, the Czech Republic allows the entry for residents as of 1 July 2020 of the following third countries:

  • Serbia
  • Montenegro

as of 13 July 2020 the list is extended to the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Japan
  • New Zealand
  • South Korea
  • Thailand

Residents of the other countries are not allowed entry into the Czech Republic. They may, however, enter the Czech Republic if they fulfill the criteria set out in decision I.4. of the Safety Measures of the Ministry of Health.

The situation is dynamic and evolves continually, so be sure to check our web for updates.

Attention: citizens of red zone third countries are not allowed to enter the Czech territory based on visa-free travel or short-term visa issued by another EU country
